Designers and creatives are sometimes told that they live in comfy little bubbles, doing self-indulgent work while being totally oblivious to harsh realities of the outside world. All creatives have heard this at least once in their career, but I have been told this many times. I come from a school of thought that knows that; in the right hands and at the right time; graphic design can be an extremely powerful communication tool to spread ideas across space and time. My lifelong design philosophy can be described in just a few words: 'To design is to improve'. I strongly believe that as communicators, we have a duty to help make the world a better place where and when we can. /

This horrendous incident has had a significant emotional impact on many people across the globe, including myself and those closest to me. I felt compelled to respond and wrote a little poem as a way to express my feelings and hopefully help others feeling the same, and realise that they are not alone. The written word has long been the best vessel to gently ripple ideas across large oceans of minds. This poem has now been conveyed through this short video which I hope will enable the little drum of tolerance to beat a tiny bit louder. Genuine creativity, like any successful endeavour of any kind, is always the result of a team effort. I'd like to express my thanks to my little team of wizards: Esther Ajiboye, Emily Clark and especially Samuel Clutterbuck for being so generous with their time and talents in helping making the magic happen. I hope you will enjoy the video, and take its message to heart to help us learn acceptance and tolerance for a better future. François Reynier June 7th, 2020 Comments are closed.
